Harmoney has historically exposed several web services that mirror the functionality of the windows client in Harmoney. This has raised several difficulties since companies that use Harmoney web services have different needs for functionality and different degrees of skills in handling input to and output from the web services. The traditional web services have been seen as difficult to handle as many attributes and control nodes have to be set, although they provide no use or functionality to the user but are rather used by the windows client to control visibility of graphical elements etc. The traditional web services require Xml documents as input and returns a more or less complete Xml document representing the whole transaction against Harmoney. The growing complexity of the Xml documents is the reason why new methods that are simple and easy to implement are created.
